It was so unexpected. We had never seen a place so serene, so beautiful, simply breathtaking. The essence of what was created on this Earth is exactly what was portrayed in this safe haven for nature itself. The animals living so freely; running around with not a care in the world. The monkeys
causing a little mischief here and there. The sight of the swaying trees and the feeling of the wind against our skins. It was truly a day to behold. The day we visited the Lekki Conservation Centre. We marvelled at the idea that despite the rapid urbanisation that took place around us, a group of people were thoughtful enough to remember that nature in its natural form deserved protection.
We had planned our outing to the conservation Centre some days before. Some of us were excited at the prospects of seeing animals while others were frightened and didn't want anything to do with them. We had all arrived at the conservation centre at 11:45 am. We paid for our tour and
waited for more people to join before embarking on our journey over the boardwalk. Here we encountered some monkeys where one even tried to slap on of us he ended up taking the photo he wanted with it.
Not long after we began, we strolled for quite sometime before stopping at a part of the tour called the canopy walk. We read the rules and one of our own who had Acrophobia
was scared to death but sucked it up and carried on. We had to wait at each tower as only six people could go on the canopy walk. After a few ups and downs, scares and near misses we had reached the end of the canopy walk.
We were then led to the family park where played floor games. Our team split into two and played chess against each other it was fun as one team transcended the other team.
We soon began our walk back but not before we all climbed the tree house and left a message of our names to prove we had climbed the tree house.
Soon it started to look a little cloudy and it was obvious that our time at the centre was over. So we all left to find a mall where could but some food to eat before going our separate ways.
The last day of the month of July was truly a day to be remembered.
